Lahko pa se pojavi prej, celo od 40. leta starosti. Polovica mo\u0161kih, starej\u0161ih od 60 let, trpi zaradi pove\u010dane prostate, nad 70. let pa celo 90 %. Seveda se te\u017eave s starostjo poslab\u0161ajo. Vendar ni neposredne povezave med velikostjo prostate in te\u017eavami, ki jih povzro\u010da.
