Age is just a number

You've probably heard this saying somewhere before. But it's not just some invention of those who are ashamed of their age and pretend to be younger. There's actually something to it, according to sociologists and other scientists.

How are you feeling today?

An elderly woman with short gray hair is talking on her cell phone, holding shopping bags, smiling on the street on a sunny day.Do you know what the official age limit is? Do you have a guess? We'll tell you. None. There simply is no official, legally valid age limit. Yes, there are certain numbers, but they reflect a subjective average and are different in each country. And they even change and increase every few years.
According to several global studies over the past few years, scientists have found that biological age does not have as much influence on physical health as state of mindSo if we feel like we're 30 at 45, we're significantly better off than if we felt like we were 60, you'll surely agree.
The way a person perceives themselves changes throughout life. At first, people feel older than their year of birth. This self-assessment breaks down around the age of 25. Subsequently, people usually begin to feel youngerthan their ID card tells them. And the older people get, the more the gap between their biological age and their mental age widens.
According to research, this fact is mainly influenced by the fact that people are afraid of stereotyping and try to avoid being put into boxes. For example, at 18, a person should suddenly be an adult, at 25 they should start a career or give birth to a child, at 35 they should have a promising career, and around 40 a midlife crisis should slowly come. However, people are not ready for this and try to fight it.

How you feel is also reflected in your health.

While people who admit they are old, or even feel older than they are, have many health problems and diseases associated with old age. They are often troubled by depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, they do not feel joy in life, enthusiasm, curiosity or any surge of energy.
So if you observe yourself signs of aging, the best thing you can do against them is to change your mindset. Of course, it is not good to overdo it and start playing the role of a teenager at 45. But definitely start with activities that people younger than you do. And you will see that you will soon start to feel younger. In addition, people who feel younger are also considered more open, conscientious and likeable by those around them.

Young minds need to be supported physically as well

Smiling woman in sportswear during group fitness exercise in a bright studio with several people in the backgroundHow wonderful it would be to just think about being 10 years younger and it would suddenly happen. Even though they say that a person is what they think about, or that they can attract or change reality by thinking. But it doesn't work on its own. The right thoughts are just the foundation and it needs to be properly supported.
And it's not for nothing that they say that everything is connected to everything.
No, it really doesn't mean that you'll start going to discos again and getting drunk until the morning, then coming home through the window so that your mother (in this case, your husband or children) won't catch you. Quite the opposite.
People who feel younger than their biological age usually also start living healthier lives. They eat healthily, break down entrenched stereotypes about eating, and seek out relevant information and advice. They also move more, exercise, and run. It is not necessary to immediately sign up for a marathon like Tereza Kostková with her movie mom and sisters in the film Women on the Run. But starting to move certainly won't hurt anyone. Just start slowly and gradually increase your exercise. If you don't have your favorite type of exercise, start trying. Over time, you will definitely choose "your" one.
And no, don't make excuses that you're too old to "start running." That's exactly what it is. You're young!
